Best Dua for Seeking Forgiveness (Syed-ul-Istighfar)

Shaddad bin Aus (Radhi Allah Anh) said: Prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said, “The best supplication for seeking forgiveness (Syed-ul-Istighfar) is to say:  


اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْتَ رَبِّيْ ، لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِيْ وَاَنَا عَبْدُكَ ، وَاَنَا عَلَی عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ ، اَبُوْءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ ، وَ اَبُوْءُ بِذَنْبِي ، فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ ، فَاِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

Allâhumma Anta Rabbî, lâ ilâha illâ Anta, khalaqtanî wa anâ 'abduka, wa anâ 'alâ 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, a'ûdhu bika min sharri mâ sana'tu, abû'u laka bini'maktika 'alayya, wa abû'u bidhanbî, faghfir lî, fa innahu lâ yaghfirudh-dhunûba illâ Anta

O Allah! You are my Rabb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favors that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon

Whoever makes this dua during the day with firm belief in it and dies on the same day (before the evening) he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah (Paradise); and whoever makes this dua during the night with firm belief in it and dies before the morning, he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah (Paradise).”

Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya No. 2654 – From Abu Hurairah from the Messenger – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – : ‘Whoever does not supplicate (make  Dua’ ) to Allaah, then Allaah is angry with him.’ Collected by Bukhari in ‘Adab al-Mufrad’, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, al-Hakim, Ahmad, Ibn Abi Shaybah, al-Bayhaqi in ‘ash-Shawba’ and by Tabaraani. Suhih Muslim  Book 41, Number 6: Harith b Abi Rabi'a and 'Abdullah b. Safwan both went to Umm Salama, the Mother of the Faithful, and they asked her about the army which would be sunk in the earth, and this relates to the time when Ibn Zubair (was the governor of Mecca). She reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had said that a seeker of refuge would seek refuge in the Sacred House and an army would be sent to him (in order to kill him) and when it would enter a plain ground, it would be made to sink. ছওম বা ছিয়াম :  অর্থ বিরত থাকা। শরী‘আতের পরিভাষায় আল্ললাহর সন্তুষ্টি লাভের উদ্দেশ্যে ছুবহে ছাদিক হ’তে সূর্যাস্ত পর্যন্ত পানাহার ও যৌন সম্ভোগ হ’তে বিরত থাকাকে ‘ছওম’ বা ‘ছিয়াম’ বলা হয়। ২য় হিজরী সনে ছিয়াম ফরয হয়। ছিয়ামের ফাযায়েল :  রাসূলুল্ললাহ (ছাঃ) এরশাদ করেন, ‘যে ব্যক্তি ঈমানের সাথে ছওয়াবের আশায় রামাযানের ছিয়াম পালন করে, তার বিগত সকল গুনাহ মাফ করে দেওয়া হয়’। [1] রাসূলুল্লাহ (ছাঃ) আরও বলেন, ‘আদম সন্তানের প্রত্যেক নেক আমলের ছওয়াব দশগুণ হ’তে সাতশত গুণ পর্যন্ত প্রদান করা হয়। আল্লাহ বলেন, কিন্তু ছওম ব্যতীত। কেননা ছওম কেবল আমার জন্যই (রাখা হয়) এবং আমিই তার পুরস্কার প্রদান করব। সে তার যৌনাকাঙ্খা ও পানাহার কেবল আমার জন্যই পরিত্যাগ করে। ছিয়াম পালনকারীর জন্য দু’টি আনন্দের মুহূর্ত রয়েছে। একটি ইফতারকালে, অন্যটি তার প্রভুর সাথে দীদারকালে। তার মুখের গন্ধ আল্লাহর নিকটে মিশকের খোশবুর চেয়েও সুগন্ধিময়। ছিয়াম (অন্যায় অপকর্মের বিরুদ্ধে) ঢাল স্বরূপ। অতএব যখন তোমরা ছিয়াম পালন করবে, তখন মন্দ কথা বলবে না ও বাজে বকবে না। যদি কেউ গালি দেয় বা লড়াই করতে আসে তখন বলবে, আমি ছায়েম’। [2] মাসায়েল :...

Quran narrates several conversations between Moses and Pharaoh.  One of the most detailed accounts is in chapter 26 which is entitled ‘The Poets’.  Moses speaks kindly to Pharaoh about God, His Mercy, and His Paradise, but Pharaoh reacts disdainfully and arrogantly.  He reminds Moses of his past crime and asks Moses to be grateful that he was raised in the palace amongst luxuries and wealth.  Moses excuses himself by saying he committed the crime of killing an innocent man when he was ignorant and  points out that he was raised in the palace only because he was unable to live with his own family due to Pharaoh’s indiscriminate killing of baby boys. “Moses said, “I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message).  So I fled from you when I feared you.  But my Lord has granted me religious knowledge, and Prophethood, and appointed me as one of the Messengers.  And this is the past favour with which you reproach...

FACING THE KA’BAH (Istiqbaalul-Ka’bah) (1) If you stand, O Muslim, to pray – then face the direction of the Ka’bah, wherever you are, in obligatory Prayers and optional Prayers. This is one of the pillars of the Prayer, such that the Prayer is not valid without it. (2) The obligation to face the direction of the Ka’bah is removed from a warrior having to pray the Fear Prayer and during severe fighting. It is also removed from one who is rendered incapable of it, such as one who is (very) ill, or one who is upon a ship, car or airplane and who fears that the Prayer time will reach its end. It is also removed from one who prays optional Prayer or the Witr Prayer upon a riding beast or vehicle. Qabisah ibn al-Mukhariq reported: When the verse was revealed, “ Warn your closest kindred ,” (26:214) the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, set out to the mountain cliffs and ascended to the highest rock. Then, the Prophet called out, “ O sons of ‘Abd Manafah! I am warning you! পরিচ্ছেদ__ ২৪. জুমু'আর (ফরযের) পূর্বের ও পরের নামায: ৫২৩। আবু হুরাইরা (রাঃ) হতে বর্ণিত আছে, তিনি বলেন, রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেনঃ তোমাদের মধ্যে যে ব্যক্তি জুমু'আর নামাযের পর নামায আদায় করতে চায় সে যেন চার রাকাআত আদায় করে। -সহীহ। ইবনু মাজাহ– (১১৩২)। আবু ঈসা বলেনঃ এ হাদীসটি হাসান। সুফিয়ান ইবনু উয়াইনা বলেন, সুহাইল ইবনু আবু সালিহ হাদীসশাস্ত্রে একজন নির্ভরযোগ্য রাবী। একদল আলিম এ হাদীস অনুযায়ী আমল করেন। আবদুল্লাহ ইবনু মাসউদ (রাঃ) জুমুআর (ফরযের) পূর্বে চার রাকাআত এবং পরে চার রাকাআত (সুন্নাত) নামায আদায় করতেন। আলী (রাঃ) প্রসঙ্গে বর্ণিত আছে যে, তিনি জুমু'আর পর দুই রাকাআত তারপর চার রাকাআত আদায় করার হুকুম দিয়েছেন। সুফিয়ান সাওরী ও ইবনুল মুবারাক (রহঃ) ইবনু মাসউদের মত গ্রহণ করেছেন। ইসহাক বলেছেন, জুমুআর দিন যদি মসজিদে (সুন্নাত) নামায আদায় করা হয় তবে চার রাক'আত আদায় করবে আর যদি ঘরে আদায় করে তবে দুই রাকাআত আদায় করবে। তিনি দলীল হিসাবে এ হাদীস উল্লেখ করেছেন, وَاحْتَجَّ بِأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُصَلِّي بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ...
